Dev Log 2

This week I have decided to change the look of my character however in order to do so I had to recrate the animations so they would go with the character. For this to be accomplished I needed to use a website in order to find a character I liked and that would suit the game style (cartoon). I then used Mixamo to create the animations that I needed such as Idle, walk and jump.

In unreal I imported all the files as .FBX files as these are what you need to be able to create the animations. After they were imported I needed to do some research into how to make the animations and make them look smooth.  Once they were imported in I created the different blend spaces that were necessary and also created the animation blueprint.

When I had done this and started trying to do it in my projects I found it quite difficult and not very easy to understand when I was making an animation blueprint. After looking into the animation blueprint and how it works I have more of an understanding how it works however I am still not confident it. This will be something I will keep revisiting throughout the project and gain more knowledge on.

This is the idle pose for the character so whenever you are not moving you will fall onto your knees and with the ragdoll effect that I had previously added the character should all fall to the floor.

I found this part of the game quite difficult as when trying to blend together some of the animations I found that they looked choppy meaning I needed to edit it to make it look smoother. When doing this I found that they would never blend together perfectly and could spend a lot of time trying to make it look better. Once I had finished with my animations I was happy with the way that they looked as it was a big improvement from what they originally looked like.
